Lovely Start Going Into 2011

I figure while I’m listening to Skrillex and waiting for an import to finish, I’ll blog.  It’s been a while anyway.

In the past months, I have been working on software to help reduce risk and fraud for affiliate networks.  After doing some soul searching and dwelling on how things turned out for me with SauceKit, it’s time to do something more wholesome.  So much good can be done with his experience that I’ve obtained in the last 14 years (yes, my days go before SauceKit).

One of my nagging friends (I kid, I kid, I joke, I jooke!) who decided to start his own affiliate network got on my case about helping him out.  It came with as surprise to either of us that he would be a prime target for fraud.  Sure enough the fraud came in as soon as he opened the doors.  But due to the limited amount of time I could pour my soul into his demand, I kept putting it off.

Push came to shove, and finally I got on board.  It took a plane ticket out to visit for face-to-face meetings and a week end of being locked up in his office like a hostage (not really) to get the beta out there.  This pre-release from this 1 week end did the trick.  On it’s first day of being live it caught 14 affiliates producing fraudulent conversions of their own.  Some of them were a shock to the friend, some were not.

It was months that went by and my time still limited.  More and more requests for making the system stacked up from the friend.  It started to get stressful to just talk about all the ideas there was no time for.  This is when I knew that we had stumbled across a nice way for me to make another mark in Affiliate History.

It is now 6 months from our first day of planning for this software and we just signed our first network to use the baby platform.  Our platform consists of doing automated data analyzing to show fraudulent patterns requiring minimal data from transactions.  We’re just starting to scratch the surface with our efforts.

As exciting as this day is, there is so much more to be done.  Currently the system will support the tracking platforms HasOffers and CAKE.  Other platforms are on schedule to be completed in the near future.  One day at a time though, right?

Data import is done.  Time to go back to work.
